Regulations - Hawaiian Canoe

Sprint Modality

  • Teams formed by 6 rowers, in male, female, and mixed categories (3 male rowers and 3 female).
  • Heats will have 2 teams in a 500m lane in the qualifying phase, with 1 lap on the course and the buoy turn being made to the left side.
  • Initial match-ups will be made by draw. Initial phases will be qualifying and losers will go to repechage.
  • The final will be played by the 2 best teams, with the winner being the one who reaches the sand first and rings the bell located at the portal on the sand.
  • A canoe that invades another's space by colliding or hindering its course will have 30 seconds added to its final time. If the collision is intentional, the canoe will be eliminated from the competition.
  • The test will be recreational and experiential in nature, like a scavenger hunt, stimulating sportsmanship, aimed at non-professional sports enthusiasts.
  • The event will provide the canoes, but each athlete is responsible for the oars and vests.

Canoe Surf Modality

  • Teams must have 4 rowers according to gender.
  • In the mixed team, there must be 2 men and 2 women (a child up to 12 years old may participate in place of a male or female rower).
  • Heats will last from 20 to 30 minutes, according to the number of teams registered.
  • The 1st phase will be qualifying and the definition of match-ups will be according to the positioning of the teams in the Brazilian Canoe Surf Circuit Ranking.
  • Losing teams of the 1st phase will participate in a repechage to define the elimination phase, according to the number of teams registered in the event, to complete the elimination phase bracket.
  • Judging will be carried out by 4 hired judges, external to the event.
  • On Saturday we will have the qualifying phase of the mixed category.
  • On Sunday we will have the finals of the mixed category and all phases of the male and female.
  • The event will provide the canoes, but each athlete is responsible for the oars, helmets, and vests.

Awards

Trophy and medal for the category champions. Silver and bronze medals for 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
